About Us

Established in 2016, Safe Excavation assist an array of customers with their Vacuum Excavation requirements such as motorway works, civil engineering, and building and construction projects.

It is our aim to continue to promote our service throughout the industry and to provide a safer working environment for all.

Situated in Kent, our team mainly operate across Kent & the South East, in towns such as Maidstone & Gillingham, Portsmouth, and Brighton and Hove, Ipswich, Reading, and Southend but our vacuum excavators are available for hire across the UK.

How Vacuum Excavation Works

It is important to understand the answer to the question “How does Vacuum Excavation Work?” along with what benefits it provides. Vacuum Excavation services are proven to be the safest, most efficient and most cost-effective method for fast excavation in any situation.

Our Vacuum Excavation trucks come in an array of sizes, but they all carry a remote-control boom that is responsible for sucking up the debris from the excavated area. This is a quicker process and is much safer than manual digging, or any other approach.

Step 1

The truck is moved into position and the remote-control boom is brought towards the allocated excavated section.

The boom is usually positioned around 6 to 8 inches above the excavation area. The fans are then switched on to begin the suction process.

Step 2

The gap between the ground and the boom suction pipe is maintained throughout the job and any material is sucked up under a constant airflow.

The boom is continually adjusted to follow the material and to maintain the 6 to 8 inch gap, as well as keep the removal uniform.

Step 3

If any harder material is encountered, an air lance can be used to loosen the ground.

The area is cleared until the right depth is reached or a utility pipe is uncovered enough for the manual workers to operate.

Here at Safe Excavation, our team go the extra mile. As we have a considerable amount of experience in dealing with an array of excavations with different industries, we are able to fully advise our customers on which is the right equipment for their project. Our aim is to continually ensure high levels of customer service and we are also able to assist with any temporary works as well as large projects.

We can provide your company with a fully responsive service, which includes providing ground protection such as fence panels and rubber mats, which are put in place to maintain safety.

The main benefit of Suction Excavation for contractors is that it is the safest way to excavate material from a variety of sites. The contractors can keep the areas clear of material which will prevent any accidents happening to the workforce and anyone passing by.

Our state-of-the-art trucks comply with noise level standards for work in public areas and prevent dust escape with an air circulation system that contains 42 filters, which means little contamination during the Vacuum Excavation process.

Our Hire Fleet

Our Vacuum Excavators come in a variety of sizes depending on the job that is being undertaken and these have a number of different tools to assist with the different conditions. For example, we have a selection of reduced pipe sizes for the smaller or narrower areas of ground, as well as air lances that help to quickly break up any solid material. It is worth noting that the air breakers perform a similar job. All of our excavators have a built-in compressor on board.

We can store any material that is removed from an excavation project into a skip that has been built into the truck. This helps with the reduce of transport costs if the excavated waste is required to be taken to a stockpile area on-site. The material is dispensed by side-tipping soil and rock waste, but it can also be directly tipped into skips to avoid reloading time.

Vacuum Excavation Safety Benefits

Here at Safe Excavation, we have provided our customers with the option to operate the truck yourself, if there are trained operatives available. The other option is to have one of our highly experienced operators on-site with you.

Vacuum Excavation has a number of major benefits over the traditional use of manual excavation, which have improved the health and safety aspect of any operation.

Remotely Operated Vacuum Evacuation

Our Vacuum Excavators operate using a boom that has an extended reach and comes equipped with a range of attachments that can be used to quickly and efficiently excavate any area. Our Vacuum Excavation equipment ensures that you have the perfect tool to dig any area, in a clean and safe manner.

The remote operation ensures that work in all areas can be performed at a distance, which means that there is no risk to the operator. This also greatly reduces the challenges that come with manual digging and the hand vibrations which can cause injury to the operatives.

Safe Excavation for Hard to Reach Areas

We have multiple Vacuum Excavators and a full range of different pipe sizes to suit any excavation site. We take the danger out of dealing with hard to reach or difficult areas of ground that may put both teams at risk.

Our equipment is able to break up any hard ground by using air lances and air breakers. This ensures the speedy excavation of your site.

A Clean Excavation

If you are operating within a built-up area, or you’re wanting to keep the dust and debris to a minimum, our vacuum trucks have the ability to capture all the dust inside the tanks.

This is done by using 42 separate air filters to ensure safe working, even for those close to the excavation.
